Apparently only Republicans care about Florida, since Howard Dean and the DNC decided to take all delegates away from Democratic voters..

Last night’s major loss was probably a surprise to the Romney camp. While McCain had the endorsements from Senator Mel Martinez, which frankly came at no surprise, and Governor Charlie Crist, there were several factors that said Romney could win.

It could be the polls, which RealClearPolitics (which averages major polls together), had Romney at +1.0. The polls in Romney’s favor were polls conducted later. There was a Romney surge with the exiting of Fred Thompson. McCain was on the declined and Governor Crist’s endorsement came late when the news couldn’t cycle it in time. The economic woes of Floridians had pundits, including my sometimes level-headed friend Cory Thompson, rushing to point to Romney as the successor for Republican Party.

As my friend, Josh Trevino, points out the numbers when analyzed look great for Romney. It looks like Romney wins, according to the exit polling, in what the base was around about 2003*.

Three quick thoughts:

• That base is gone. The big tent party has returned.
• A vote fore Romney isn’t a Conservative vote, but a vote against McCain.
• Viability rules at the end of the day. (and on both sides of the fence may I point out)

McCain still won. In fact, that’s at least an 8 point comeback, assuming Romney was supposed to be the winner. At the very least, it would conclude that McCain surged another 3 or 4 points while never sinking thus proving at least three major polls to be wrong and all the while Romney’s message proving to be ineffective. Let me point out that McCain won economic voters. What will Pander King Romney run on now? Hair?

McCain will reign king Super Tuesday, where 24 states will hold their Presidential primaries, and really no matter how it’s split McCain will retain his title of front-runner. In fact, Romney’s greatest competitor will be Huckabee who plans to take Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and possibly even Missouri.

Romney wanted to play the delegate game. You’ve been served.

At the end of the day Romney is asking voters to trust him instead of themselves. He says he can beat The Clinton Machine and Barack Obama, however no poll agrees with him. He steals Obama’s “change” at the que of the media hype, he uses literary functions that English scholars say don’t make short of anything but a lie, and he wants to play who can be “-er” or “-est” (ie. gay rights, abortion, Supreme Court Justices, Reagan’s 11th commandment, “Christian,” gun rights, tax cuts, etc).

I’ve hardly been asked why I have such strong distaste for Romney, however here it is: Where are his chops? What has he done for the Republican Party? I don’t think the Olympics (in which Senator John McCain assisted on) count. Governing Massachusetts is no easy feat… but the party there is hardly thriving. Also, there would be the constant pandering done in combination with rivaling Huckabee for the campaign with the least amount of actual policy.

Yes, I think I’m done with Governors being the Commander-in-Chief for now.
